FreshyMap is a web application that provides real-time data visualizations of snow reports and short-term forecasts at ski resorts.[1][2][3] The application functions by scraping and analyzing data from relevant sources such as avalanche centers, resort snowfall reports, weather models, snowtel readings, Department of Transportation data, and webcam feeds.[4][5][6] A proprietary algorithm then determines a "Freshy Factor" rating for each ski area by analyzing information like day of the week, time of day, snowfall data from weather stations, five day snow and new snow, as well as reports from social networks. FreshyMap was founded in 2011 by Chris Helm and Brendan Heberton and now includes reports for approximately 160 resorts in three countries.[7][8][9]
