Stromal Vascular Fraction

Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) of adipose tissue is a source of preadipocytes, mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), endothelial progenitor cell, T cells, B cells, mast cells as well as adipose tissue macrophages.[1][2]

Introduction

Stromal Vascular Fraction (SVF) is a component of the lipoaspirate obtained from liposuction of excess adipose tissue. Lipoaspirate, the waste product of liposuction (cosmetic surgery), contains a large population of regenerative cells called adipose derived regenerative cells (ADRCs), which share a number of similarities with bone marrow cells, including the capacity for multilineage differentiation. Autologous SVFs containing ADRCs are currently being used in clinical settings for various orthopedic applications for human patients without any serious side effects.[3][4][5][6]
