Engineering:AOR M21 Assault Rifle

From HandWiki

The AOR rifle is a new assault rifle designed by a team called AOR, which has recently been presented to the Hellenic Army Chief of Staff. The design of the rifle is similar to the well known M4 carbine and also uses the 5.56mm NATO round. It is also available chambered to fit the 7.62mm NATO round. Several variants exist in the 5.56mm setting to suit variable barrel lengths [ 10.5,14.5,16,18]. This flexibility gives the rifle ergonomics to suit various types of combat, from CQB to marksman roles.

The rifle uses light weight materials such as a polymer stock, ambidextrous controls such as the safety and cocking handle and rails to mount accessories. The rifle uses a free floating barrel connected to a gas piston, allowing for a reliable mechanism as seen in the AK-47, whilst allowing for accuracy by damping the recoil. The paint is of a unique finish, camouflaging the rifle as well as reducing the IR signature.

The primary purpose of the rifle is to replace the aging Heckler & Koch G3 which is subject to an open tender, competing with the likes of the Adcor A-556.[1][2]
