Carmel is a car and limousine Car Service, mainly focused on airport trips. Carmel Car Service is one of the largest car service companies and limousine services in the world, and provides international car service.[1][2] The company dispatches 1200 drivers in New York City alone and serves more than 300 cities around the world, including 150 in the United States.[3][4]

History

Avik Kabessa started his own car service company in the late 70's, called Sinai. In 1985, he merged with then-6-year-old Aviv Baran's Carmel Car Services (the name Carmel was kept).[5] In 1991, Avik took time off to start a family and study veterinary medicine. As of 2002, Avik is the CEO of Carmel Car Service.[5]

Over the years, Kabessa had expanded Carmel to 320 locations worldwide. Once exclusive to the tri-state area, Carmel is now an international company and is expected to land in 400 markets by the end of 2014.[5] Kabessa spent the majority of his early years in the business working behind the wheel — so when a customer unleashes a complaint, the executive presumes the driver to be innocent until proven guilty. Some New York City drivers have more than 20 years of experience with Carmel.[5]

Fleet

Carmel Car Service offers cars, vans, and SUV's for rides at different costs.[6] The company dispatches 1200 drivers in New York City alone.

Carmel Mobile App

The Carmel Mobile App is a phone application that can be currently downloaded and used internationally. It contains a GPS and allows customers to order car service via phone, track the arrival of the car using GPS and pay within the app. The app complies with all state livery regulations.[7] It works with iPhones and Android phones.

The app was selected as a T-Mobile 'Top Pick' on the App Store Google Play.[8] It holds a 4.4 star rating on the store.

On Tuesday, February 25, 2014, Carmel became the first and only licensed and approved car dispatch app in St. Louis, receiving approval for a dispatch license with the Metropolitan St. Louis Taxicab Commission (MTC).[1][4][9]
