Paraprionopelta is a genus of ants in the subfamily Amblyoponinae containing the single species Paraprionopelta minima.[1] The genus was erected by Kusnezov (1955) for males collected in Tucumán, Argentina .[2] The placement of the genus within the subfamily is uncertain; they differ from Amblyoponini males in the shape of the head and mandibles and reduced antennal segmentation. Due to their small size and antennal segmentation, Brown (1960) speculated that the species may represent the males of Amblyopone degenerata (now Stigmatomma degeneratum).[3]
