The Itaboraian age is a South American Land Mammal Age or SALMA (biochronological unit) of the early Eocene geologic time (56.0—47.8 Ma). It follows the Peligran SALMA and precedes the Riochican age.[1]

Etymology

This age is named after Itaboraí, a Greater Rio municipality in the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil not very far away from Niterói.
